I have not been posting for the past 2 years. I totally was immersed in my own life that I practically neglected posting here. Today someone posted few comments on my blog which reminded me as to why I started this blog. To the person who posted all I can say is "THANK YOU".

Management Lesson

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold, the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him!

Management Lesson:
1) Not everyone who drops shit on you is your enemy.
2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
3) And when you're in deep shit, keep your mouth shut!

I don't know why everytime it rains (or drizzle) there will be MASSIVE jams everywhere in KL. It is so irritating.. Just 2 days ago it took me nearly 1 1/2 hrs just to reach home as there was massive jams on Federal Highway + LDP. Seriously I don't know what is the government doing. Why can't they do something about this? I mean they have so many "think tank" who are idling around. Why cant they get together and find a solution to these jams once and for all?

If our "beloved" Prime Minister can go for a train rides so that he could "track the transport system" why can't he also try going through the jam (without his outriders and driver) in LDP in the mornings. Then maybe he will "realise" how bad is the condition. Just try googling "LDP JAM" and you can see how many others have blogged about this... Just look at the picture on the left (courtesy of The Star). That is what I have to go through everyday to get to work ..... and ya I still have to pay for the toll charges.... HAIH!!!!

** UPDATE: After posting the below entry, I actually manage to book my first ticket since morning.. hahah.. should have complained earlier ***

I have been trying to book my tickets to Miri for next year since today morning via AirAsia. I think I have tried for almost 20 times since 8am and till now I am unable to even book ONE ticket yet. I keep getting this error below. So frustrating...

My mistake for sleeping off last night and not waiting to book it in the wee hours of the morning.

For those who does not know what I am talking about, well Airasia is giving away free* tickets to all of their destinations (not so free la.... still have to pay admin charges + tax la..) .. and normally when this promotion starts its almost impossible to go through their website during the day...

I am not going to give up... Will keep trying till I get my tickets...

Hmm.. it seems that I have neglected this blog for quite a long while.. I am not going to make any excuses saying how busy I was with work + studies... I guess I just got plain lazy :-) ...

Currently I am planning to split this blog to personal ramblings and another blog on faith... Well lets see how well this goes..

Frankly, time just flies.. It is already mid of November 2008, and we are cruising on a full speed ahead to welcome the year 2009.. Just a week ago, a friend of mine told me about Planet X and the "supposedly" end of the world in 2012. Well any of you who actually still read this blog who would like to know more about this.. just google up the "planet x and 2012". There are a lot of videos in youtube too regarding this...

Welcome to EDS!

Yesterday marked the transistion date from Shell IT to EDS. How does it feels.. hmm actually nothing much has change (till now.. ) except that now my payslip will be from EDS and eventually when HP buys over EDS it will be from HP. Confusing rite... :)

What have I been up to.. hmm.. from assignments.. presentation and exam this Sat (yay!) and also work.. I will be goin back to Miri soon.. Thank god!! I have less then 70 hours till exam and I have yet to read so much... :(

Besides that, Malaysia is rocked by yet another "Sodomy Case". The actor is non other than Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim again.. Hai.. politics is so tad confusing and dirty.. I do not want to elaborate too much about this case. Just do a google search and you will definately hit 1000 of different news sites and blogs giving their opinions over this matter.

Vir Manpreet Singh Ji will be having program in Malaysia. Details of the program will be posted in another topic shortly..

Thats all for now.. Its time to go back to work now...

Its been a hectic.. very very hectic times since I have last posted here.
Finished my first module for my MBA and now I am heading for my second module which has already started and I have already started doing my assignment. Hai.. guess this will be my life now for the next 1 1/2 year. Work also has been hectic, for those of you who have not heard it major part of Shell IT is to be outsourced to 3 vendors EDS, T-System and AT & T. Im going to EDS. Was initially not too thrill about EDS but after looking at the package that we were given (it was almost comparable with what we were getting in Shell) so.. guess its OKAY Laa...

Had a company trip to Pulau Perhentian 2 weeks ago. I went in later with my boss as I had a presentation due. We flew using FireFlyz to Kota Bharu (Kelantan) and took a cab to the Jetty in Terengganu (haha so it was like going to 2 states in 2 days). It was ages since I have last sat in a Fokker 50. It was cool and nice experience. The MakCik (aunty) who was sitting beside me was friendly and so was everyone in Kelantan :) Seriously Kelantan is a nice quiet place to go to and its nothing like what it is potrayed by the Govt Media (TV1) .. Anyway for those of you who are planning to go for a getaway trip.. I would recommend Pulau Perhentian. It is not as developed as Langkawi/Redang/Tioman but it is really a nice remote place where you can have peace and quiet. I loved it there (though this is where my beloved phone decided to die on me). Return was via AirAsia with a delay of nearly 2 hrs (haiii nothing new here)..

Mum was down for a week and it was AWESOME. Went to Barsi - last minute plan. But overall it was reali nice..

Next week I will be going for another company trip to Cherating @ Club Med. I miss this last year so looking forward to this year trip. And week after will be assignment presentation ( haiiii ) ..

Anyway Mel and I are gonna go to Bali end of Aug.. Yahooo.. Gonna go and get the tickets this Friday.. Cant wait for the trip :)
Oh ya before I forget, I got myself a new gadget (Nokia N82).. I have not got much time to play around with it but it looks really cool and hip :) For those who knows that I had your phone number, please be kind enough to sms me your numbers back again :)

Global Warming

I just finished watching the movie An Inconvenient Truth..
For those who has not watched the movie earlier (like me) it is a movie worth watching. It is currently being shown on HBO ASIA.

Personally Ive learnt a lot about the effect of global warming just by watching this movie.. The graphics used in the movie really helped explaining things in a simpler way...

Thanks to guruji who has helped to get this project running. Also a big thanks to Parkash Kaur who really spent a lot of her time getting the website up .. This has been one of my dream projects and with this now started; hopefully of course with god's will other dreams/plans will also materialise.

The website is still under construction as we are currently uploading all the information up to the site.

Feedback for the site is highly appreciated..

P/S: Hopefully now people will realise that there's sangat in East Malaysia (mainly Sarawak). Sangat in this part of the world badly need some sort of ongoing parchaar. Sangat in West Malaysia are lucky to have ongoing arrivals of reknown katha vachaks, raagis and also ongoing mini Samelans. Hopefully with guruji's grace much more parchaar will be done in places like Miri.

With all the cases that are going on about children getting kidnapped in Malaysia - click here to read more ; never I thought that this incident was about to happen to someone close to me. I am still shocked. Thanks to god that he had his kirpa and nothing ugly happened.

Below is the email I got from Praji Amarjit Singh (Saaj Jatha). Spoke to him earlier and I was just thanking God that everyone is safe and sound.

Dear All Friends,
My Name is Amarjit Singh, staying in Taman Cheras Indah, near Taman Shamelin, would like to share an incident that happened to my family yesterday at housing area itself.

On 29 January 2008 at 5.00pm my mother and two of my sons, elder Gurpuran Singh, 5 years old and second son is Gursevak Singh 1 year 6 months, was walking to the shop for buying news paper.

Meanwhile, my mother was walking passing by after five houses, suddenly a man with motorbike (thin guy) and a women (plump & fair) sitting behind him wearing all black crossing in front of my mother and asked her that “ada kerja” (any work) my mother just shaking her head saying NO, out of unexpected the motorbike man take a wood about 3 inc x 3 inc long, and forward 3 feet comes nearest my mother and trying to attack her with the big wood aiming on her head & pointing on my son & shouted by saying “Kasi!! Kasi!!” (give! give!- by meaning asking of my baby) my mother said “Jangan! Jangan!” (No, No) and trying to keep away from him, the woman just sat on the bike was waiting for the next action. And the same time my mother ran to the other side (near people hse) and she was screaming for help.. (Tolong!! Tolong!! (Help!! Help!!) this make him frightened and took his motorbike ran away from the place.

My mother and I make a report at Pandan Indah Polis station at 7.30pm last night.

With the concern of our children, I m sending this email to you all is to be more careful of our children & always make sure they are with you all the time. Thanks God, my mother and sons were so lucky on that day from the horrible happen.

Struggles = Blessings??

Everyone has gone through some struggles in life. And most of the time when we go through this struggles often we question Waheguru why did he do this/that. Below is a short story with a nice little ending as to why the struggles Waheguru gives us in life are not actually to hurt us but its in a way to help us.

A man found a cocoon of an emperor moth. He took it home so that he could watch the moth come out of the cocoon. On that day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the moth for several hours as the moth struggled to force the body through that little hole.

Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther. It just seemed to be stuck. Then the man, in his kindness, decided to help the moth, sohe took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of thecocoon. The moth then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body andsmall, shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the moth because heexpected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to beable to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the little moth spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It was never able to fly.

What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that therestricting cocoon and the struggle required for the moth to get throughthe tiny opening was the way of forcing fluid from the body of the moth into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved itsfreedom from the cocoon. Freedom and flight would only come after thestruggle. By depriving the moth of a struggle, he deprived the moth of health.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If we were to go through our life without any obstacles, we would be crippled. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. Give every opportunity a chance. Leave no room for regrets.

First of all I am really sorry that I did not get the chance to reply to any of the comments or emails personally as I have been pretty tied up with work and I have been only getting 2-3 hrs sleep per day. Having no time to tell others about the power of GOD to change lives.

On the edge.....

There will be moments when the only thing left is for you to question your existence. Life can be so damned hard for each of us. There are always days when we get so lonely and depressed. When we cry. When the world has lost its colors. When the rest of the world is happy and you are not.

There will be times when we lose all reasons for living; and problems will seem so hard that we wish there was no such thing as tomorrow.

But then again, we should also know, that they are just another bitterness in life trying to twist the personage in each of us; and corrupt our perceptions about life.

When these times happen, do not succumb to the temptations of giving up. Yes, to live is to suffer and the only way to be happy is to suffer willingly.

Often, the worst of times yields the best lessons in life. We have to go on in life's extremes. We don't have to give up.

As the famous poet, philosopher, and artist Kahlil Gibran said,
"When you are sorrowful, look again in your heart, and you shall see that, in truth, you are weeping for that which has been your delight."

Angel

Just got of the phone with my mum so I thought I will post this story that was in one of my story collection. Still missing them a lot. No matter how hard the world may seem mummy ji always finds something to cheer me up.

Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born. So one day he asked God: "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

God replied, "Among the many angels, I chose one for you. She will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

"But tell me, here in Heaven, I don't do anything else but sing and smile, that's enough for me to be happy."

"Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel your angel's love and be happy."

"And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me, if I don't know the language that men talk?"

"Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"

"Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

"I've heard that on earth there are bad men. Who will protect me?"

"Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."

"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."

"Your angel will always talk to you about me and will teach you the way for you to come back to me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from earth could already be heard, and the child in a hurry asked softly:

"Oh God, if I am about to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."

"Your angel's name is of no importance, you will call your angel: Mommy."

At last I have successfully changed my blog layout/background. It was long overdue change that I was meant to do as I really did not like the previous template. There might be some remaining tits and bits of changes that I might need to do as I did all this changes during lunch hour at work :) A good start for the new year.

My parents went back yesterday. Gosh it was one of those moments where I couldn't stop tearing. Having them around for a month was such a joy! I just couldn't get myself to come back home yesterday after dropping them off at the airport; knowing how lonely it was going to feel for the next few days till I get use to my old life back. However I do really thank guruji for giving me such wonderful parents.

Well a start of a new year, which I know will definately be one hectic year. Some really important things are going to happen this year for me; with guruji's kirpa I will keep you all updated.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you and may GOD's abundant Grace, unconditional love, favours and blessings be upon all of you.

I am back blogging after quite a while. In a nutshell my life for the past few months :

October - Was busy working the whole month. Practically had no life. Worked extra 60 hours on top of my normal working hours for the whole month. I even had to miss the kirtan darbar that was held in loving memory of Bhai Rajinder Singhji (Uk Wale) as I was working.. Arghh!

November - After a long horrid month of October, I took time off from work :) Went back to Miri for 10 days. Had Yummy home cook food. The peaceful, quiet and easy living style in Miri really is the BEST! No jams; no rush and the BEST is everyting is like so near :)
Met up with Imelda (my best friend since high school) who's back after finishing her medical studies and working a year in Ireland. We went for a day trip to Brunei to visit Edith and her husband to be (at that time, now they are married couple) . It was a really memorable time; both gals driving all the way up to Brunei, getting lost finding the place to meet up Edith. The superb indian food and of course meeting up with Vincent who is such a darling. Well all I can say is Edith! you are a lucky soul and my God blesses the both of you :)
Did not take any photos as there was nothing much to snap and it was raining most of the time.

December - Back to work. Parents are down for a visit and holiday, so I have been taking loads of day offs. Have been busy bringing them around :) Its nice having them around. Best parents I can ever ask for. Ive been actually going back early from work; knowing that there's someone back home who's waiting :) Been busy going around shopping with parents. Spent 8 hours in Mid Valley, one whole day in 1 utama and IKANO, One whole day in Sunway Pyramid and dozens of trips to IOI Mall. IOI Mall is like my mum's favourite's place (don't ask me why - though maybe because its like so near to my place). And not forgetting the numerous trips to furniture malls. Okay for those who knows me; knows that I HATE shopping. Im the type that will go and buy whatever is needed and buzz off. I really cant understand till now though I have been dragging my feet around with my parents for hours in Malls; what people get by window shopping. Ah well .. :)

Imelda has started working as a houseman in Likas hospital (Kota Kinabalu). Now thats not interesting but just wait when you hear the working hours she has to work. 6.30am - 11pm for the first 2 weeks (including Sat and Sun). And after that 6.30am - 8.00pm and she can be on call whenever there are not enough docs. I am really SHOCKED. Here I was complaining to her of my hectic working hours at times but when she told me about her working hours I was left speechless. I am not sure what is the Health Ministry in Malaysia is trying to prove by getting houseman to work this kinda hours! Reporter: As you say that, sir, we're watching scenes of protesters being sprayed by chemical-filled water!

Minister: YA! I am watching! I'm here! You've been trying... trying to do it this - to do this everywhere but in Malaysia people are allowed to, you know? We know our police head our colleague... Police have whatever allowed the procession to go to the Istana Negara, you know? Do police, first police, like, they handle them, they attack them, they... the police don't, don't, don't fire anybody?

Reporter: Our correspondent came back to the office, sir, with chemicals in his eyes!

Minister:You-you-you-you are here with the idea, you are trying to project, what is your mind! You think that we Pakistan, we are Burma, we are Myanmar. Everything you-you are thinking! WE ARE DIFFERENT! We are totally different!

Reporter: Well unfortunately when you refuse to let people protest, it does appear so.

Minister: Ya ya we are not like you! You-you have earlier perception, you come here, you want to project us like undemocratic country. This a democratic country!

Reporter: So why can't people protest then, if it's a democratic country?

Minister: YES, PEOPLE PROTEST! People do-do... of course they protest. We are allowing them protest, and they have demonstrated. But we just trying to disperse them, and then later they-they-they don't wanna disperse, but later our police compromise. They have compromised and allowed them to proceed to Istana Negara! Police, our police have succeeded in handling them gently, right? Why do you report that? You take the opposition, someone from opposition party you ask him to speak. You don't take from the government, right?

Reporter: Why did you not break up these protests...

Minister: Pardon? Pardon? Pardon?

Reporter: Why did you not break up these protests more peacefully?

Minister: I can't hear you! I can't hear you!

Minister: No we-we are! We... this protest is illegal! We don't want..this... the... NORMALLY...

Minister: YA! It's a illegal protest because we have the erection in Malaysia. It's no-no point on having a protest! We are allowing to every erection... every five years never fail! Purpose

There is one thing in this world you must never forget to do. If you forget everything else and not this, there's nothing to worry about, but if you remember everything else and forget this, then you will have done nothing in your life.

It's as if a king has sent you to some country to do a task, and you perform a hundred other services, but not the one he sent you to do. So human beings come to this world to do particular work. If you don't do it, it's as though a priceless Indian sword were used to slice rotten meat. It's a golden bowl being used to cook turnips, when one filing from the bowl could buy a hunderd suitable pots. It's like a knife of the finest tempering nailed into a wall to hang things on.

You say, "But look, I'm using it. It's not lying idle." Do you hear how ridiculous that sounds? For a penny an iron nail could be bought. You say, "But I spend my energies on lofty projects. I study philosopgy and jurisprudence, logic, astronomy and medicine." But consider why you do those things. They are all branches of yourself and your impressiveness. Remember the deep root of your being, the presence of your lord. Give yourself to the one who already owns your breath and your moments. If you don't you'll be like the man who takes a ceremonial dagger and hammers it into a post for a peg to hold his dipper gourd. You'll be wasting valuble keeness and forgetting your dignity and purpose.

Tiger in a Donkey's Grab/ Skin

A nice Sakhi:

One day, a Sikh appeared before Guru Gobind Singhji at Anadpur. He did not bring any offering for the guru. This was something unusual for a sikh. He said to the guru, 'o true king, pardon me for coming empty-handed. All the same, I want to make an offering to you. I am sure you will like it. but it is too heavy. I have not been able to lift it and bring it to this place.' The guru enquired, 'what is it? where is it?' The sikh replied, ' Away in the forest, i came across a big tiger. i killed it. I should have brought its body to you as an offering. but, as i have said, it is too heavy. I am not strong enough to lift it and bring it to you. Be pleased to lend me suitable assistance.'

The guru sent some strong men with the Sikh. They brought the tiger's body and placed it before the guru. He was pleased to see it. He praised the sikh for his bravery. He then got the tiger's body skinned. Then he sent for a potter's donkey. He got that donkey clothed in the tiger's ckin.The donkey thus, dressed as a tiger, was let loose. All animals ran away from it out of fear. even men, women and children fled on seeing it approach. The donkey in the tiger's grab enjoyed the new experience. It had no longer to carry any loads. it had no longer to obey any master. It was free to run about and feed at pleasure.

This went on for some time. In the meantime several complaints were made to the guru. several people requested him to kill or get killed the dreadful beast. In respose to these complaints and requests the guru went out to shoot that 'Dreadful beast'. He took a party of sikhs with him. The hunting party approached the donkey in the tiger's grab, raising the usual shouts and cries. On hearing the noise made by the guru's party, the supposed tiger began to bray in terror. it ran away at top speed. the hunting party allowed it to go away unchecked and unpursued. It fled for protection to its old master. it was trembling with fear. ITs behavious and movements were not at all like those of a tiger. They were those of a donkey. The potter was puzzled to see a tiger behave and move like a donkey. 'what is the matter with this tiger?' he said to himself. He approached it cautiously. AS he did so, the supposed tiger began to bray and move its tail

The potter realized that the animal before him was not a tiger. It was only in a donkey in a tiger's skin. He was greatly amused at this discovery. He had a hearty laugh. Then he said ' so, my lost donkey has come back in the tiger's suit. But its a donkey all the same. come on , my dear, I shall make you apear in your true grab. You have enjoyed quite a long holiday. I have missed you very much these days. now you have become stronger. so the loads will be heavier than before'.

Saying this, the potter took off the tiger's skin from the donkey's body. then he gave it a sound beating for having run away. He then employed it in carrying loads. The loads were much heavier now.

All who heard the story were greatly amused. they said to each other,'So we were all decieved. it was only a donkey dressed as a tiger. Yet how dreadful it looked! if it had continue to wear the tiger's skin, it would have continued to terify us all.'

Some sikhs asked the guru what he meant by what he had done. The guru replied,'I want you to learn a lasting lesson from this. As long as you were bound by castes and other hindu beliefes and customs, you were like donkeys. You were driven about by persons of no position or power. I have freed you from all those chains. I have conferred on you worldly powers and blessings. I have clothed you in the grab of tigers. I have given you the courage and bravery of lions. I have a made you supirior to your neighbours. I have given you the khalsa uniform. I have made you my singhs or lions. Stick and cling to that uniform of five 'Ks'. don't ever discard it.Remember what happened to the potter's donkey. when it wore the tiger's grab, it looked like a tiger. It was in fact, taken to be a tiger by all who saw it. Nobody could go near it or think of using it as a beast of burden. But when the tiger skin was taken off, it was caught and beaten by the potter. If it had not preserved and brayed like a donkey, it would have been still been regarded and treated as a tiger.

'You should learn a lesson from this. You must have not only the appreance of tigers, or lions. youshould also posses the qualities befitting your aprearance. this you can do by taking the amrit introduced by me and by following the Rehat prescribed by me for the Khalsa. An amritdhari sikh or a singh of mine will have the exterior as well as the interior of the king of the animal world. As long as you, will preserve that exterior, your enemies will fear you. You will be always victorious. But if you part with this exterior, if you discard the khalsa uniform, you will again revert to your original condition. You will fall from the lofty position to which i am lifting you.

"Yes, Guru nanak's sikhs should, henceforth take the baptismal nectar- amrit - as prescribed by me. They should ever keep distinct from others in charachter and conduct, as well as in appearance. So long as the sikhs preserve the form and apearance that i have given them, so long will they enjoy my blessings. they will have in them my spirit and my light. i shall ve with them at all times in all places.

A long time ago in China, a girl named Li-Li got married and went to live with her husband and mother-in-law. In a very short time, Li-Li found that she couldn't get along with her mother-in-law at all. Their personalities were very different, and Li-Li was angered by many of her mother-in-law's habits. In addition, she criticized Li-Li constantly.

Days passed, and weeks passed. Li-Li and her mother-in-law never stopped arguing and fighting. But what made the situation even worse was that, according to ancient Chinese tradition, Li-Li had to bow to her mother-in-law and obey her every wish. All the anger and unhappiness in the house was causing Li-Li's poor husband great distress.

Finally, Li-Li could not stand her mother-in-law's bad temper and dictatorship any longer, and she decided to do somethingabout it. Li-Li went to see her father's good friend, Mr. Huang, who sold herbs. She told him the situation and asked if he would give her some poison so that she could solve the problem once and for all.

Mr. Huang thought for a while, and finally said, "Li-Li, I will help you solve your problem, but you must listen to me and obeywhat I tell you."

Li-Li said, "Yes, Mr. Huang, I will do whatever you tell me to do."

Mr. Huang went into the back room, and returned in a few minutes with a package of herbs. He told Li-Li, "You can't use aquick-acting poison to get rid of your mother-in-law, because that would cause people to become suspicious. Therefore, I have given you a number of herbs that will slowly build up poison in her body. Every other day prepare some delicious meal and put a little of these herbs in her serving. Now, in order to make sure that nobody suspects you when she dies, you must be very careful to act very friendly towards her. Don't argue with her, obey her every wish, and treat her like a queen." Li-Li was so happy. She thanked Mr. Huang and hurried home to start her plot of murdering her mother-in-law.

Weeks went by, and months went by, and every other day,Li-Li served the specially treated food to her mother-in-law. She remembered what Mr. Huang had said about avoiding suspicion, so she controlled her temper, obeyed her mother-in-law, and treated her like her own mother. After six months had passed, the whole household had changed. Li-Li had practiced controlling her temper so much that she found that she almost never got mad or upset.

She hadn't had an argument with her mother-in-law in sixmonths because she now seemed much kinder and easier to get along with. The mother-in-law's attitude toward Li-Li changed, and she began to love Li-Li like her own daughter. She kept telling friends and relatives that Li-Li was the best daughter-in-law one could ever find. Li-Li and her mother-in-law were now treating each other like a real mother and daughter. Li-Li's husband was very happy to see what was happening.

One day, Li-Li came to see Mr. Huang and asked for his help again. She said, "Dear Mr. Huang, please help me to keep the poison from killing my mother-in-law! She's changed into such a nice woman, and I love her like my own mother. I do not want her to die because of the poison I gave her."

Mr. Huang smiled and nodded his head. "Li-Li, there's nothing to worry about. I never gave you any poison. The herbs I gave you were vitamins to improve her health. The only poison was in your mind and your attitude toward her, but that has been all washed away by the love which you gave to her."

MORAL: Have you ever realized that how you treat others is exactly how they will treat you? There is a wise saying: 'The person who loves others will also be loved in return.' or ...the environment is a reflection of ourselves.

Back after a Month

Wow.. without realising it's been a month since I have last updated my blog. When I started blogging I told myself that I will constantly update my blog every second day but guess it was never as easy as that. For all of you who has sent emails asking me where I have gone missing and for those of you who actually took the liberty to remind me its been a month since I have last blogged...thanks. Sorry I did not have much time in hand to actually reply all of your emails or sms

Anyway for those of you who actually wondered what happen to me .. I am fine but just too many things were going on at the same time that needed my attention." Work, inter-department games, studies, family responsibilites, personal responsibilities and etc etc etc... just too many things.. It has been a really hectic & stressful month. I have been going through some emotional rollercoster rides for the past month.. Thinking about it makes me wonder; WOW I actually manage to pull thorough it.. This makes me realise that Waheguru has his own way of doing things. I a mere mortal did not understand his ways of doing things but now looking back, I would say,, GURU MAYRAI SANG SAADA HAI NAALAY..

He was/is and will always be there for me (though I might not have realised that at those moment but he guided me in every way). He has given me really awesome parents & friends who were there during my up or downs for the past month. They have been the support for me all this while. Especially my friends; though I am away from my family in this big big city; you people have never once make me feel that I am alone here. Without your help and also moral support things will not be easy for me. This is all the blessings of guruji. Without HIM I would have never meet such wonderful people in my life.

I had a break only last week where I was back in my hometown and I had a really good time back there (though it was a very short visit). Work does not permit me to go back as often as I do like before. Had a thanks giving prayers on Saturday to thank guruji for everything that he has provided and also for the promotion in work he gave me. Took some pictures of the sangat in Miri and hopefully I will be uploading it soon.

Hopefully I will be blogging more often now.. Leaving you all with something to ponder on

Tioman Trip

A week ago, a group of us from System Management team (my team) and Client team went for a trip to Tioman as an event for our "Team Building".. There were around 35 of us (including spouses and children) who went for this trip.

We started of on Friday from KL at 8am to Mersing to catch the 2.30pm ferry to Tioman. There was another group (Client Team) which took the 10.00 am ferry from Tg Gemok.

Once reaching Kluang we were suppose to take the Nittar road leading to Mersing. However we missed the turning and ended up using the Jamaluang road leading to Mersing. It was really the longest 1 hour car ride I had. The roads were so winding and there were no sign of human along the road. At one point we actually saw monkeys waiting at the Bus stop! :)

It was also rather interesting in the ferry. We had to wait from 2pm till 2.45pm in the ferry as the ferry operator were trying to get passengers. Even though there were no more place in the ferry they kept getting passengers to enter the ferry. It took us 2 1/2 hrs to reach our stop in tioman as there were passengers that were going to Pulau Rawa.

By the time we reached our stop we were actually so relieved. We were really tired with the whole day of travelling. We were putting up in Berjaya Tioman.

Next day we went for snokerling. It was awesome for me (my first time). Imagine being dropped in 25 feet water ;) .. We were suppose to go for an hour of snokerling but somehow Berjaya guys sorta forgot about it and we ended up being in the water for 3 hours. I did not mind a single bit. I had an awesome time having fishes all around me and watching some amazing corals :) Some snaps below. All in all it was a nice short relaxing trip; away from the mad rush of KL and away from all the stress from work. Kudos to the organising committee! Cant wait for the year end trip to Cherating (Club Med).. :)

10 dollars look so big when we take it to Gurdwara,
But so small when we take it to the store.
60 minutes is long when we are sitting in Gurdwara,
But short when shopping, playing soccer, or watching television.
We believe what a person or newspaper says,
But question what GuruJi says.
We can't think of anything to say when we pray,
But don't have any difficulty when we gossip.
We need 2 or 3 weeks to fix a prayer or kirtan event into our schedule,
But have no prob adjusting for a social event in the last minute.
We get thrilled when a soccer game goes into extra time,
But complain when a Gurdwara service takes longer than usual.
We scramble to get a front row seat at a bhangra concert,
But look for a back row seat at the Gurdwara.
It is difficult to share GuruJi's words with others,
But simple to spread rumours.

Water Taxi

This happen at my condominium. It was raining really very heavily. I went down to get some letters that I forgot from my postbox. The next thing I saw was a taxi going straight into the swimming pool.

I was REALLY SHOCKED! At first I thought the driver was drunk but evantually he told that he couldnt make out where was the road as it was raining really heavily and he entered the pathway meant for joggers around the swimming pool and when he tried making a U-turn his car went straight into the pool.
Quite a shocking incident...

Analogy on reason to recite Gurbani

This is an excellent analogy:

He mentioned that at one time, a young child went to a Sikh Saint, and stated that no, matter how hard he tried to keep Gurbani in his heart, he just could not understand or keep it. He stated that his mind was not a bucket, but a strainer, which let everything pass through and did not contain the meaning of gurbani.

The saint said "let us try an experiment. Here is a strainer, and here is some water, and pour a bucket of water through the strainer. " The child did this and said " see the water was not contained, it just passed through, my mind is just like this". The saint said. " Do it once more" , he did, and still the water passed through the strainer. The saint said. " Do it ten times at least". The child did, and at the end of this experiment, he said " See water still passes through, no matter how many times , and how many buckets we pass through it" . The saint said. " Look carefully at the strainer and see if there is any thing different." The child did, and his eyes were filled with tears, and he said. "Yes, i see the differnce now, the grimy dirty strainer is now shiny and bright, like never before.

The saint said. " My son, this is what Gurbani does for you, it cleans your mind, and even if you do not realize it, it slowly cleanses your mind, and protects you from the five vices. The more you recite Gurbani, your mind will not only become shinier, but become like the bucket itself, which will not only become clean , but hold the meaning of Gurbani in your heart"

The child smiled, and felt he had received the best example of the power of Gurbani, ever.

Frankly, we are no different than the child.
As long as we try to recite Gurbani, and understand the meaning, we too will find strength and control to overcome the five vices. Waheguru.....

Sikh student's hair forcibly cut in NY

WASHINGTON: A commonplace schoolboys' fracas acquired an ugly communal hue in New York City when two Pakistani students forcibly cut the hair of a Sikh boy following an altercation.

The incident happened at the Newton High School in Queens, a New York City borough that has a large population from the sub-continent.

According to local news reports, the assault took place in a school bathroom after the students began insulting each others mothers and the exchange escalated.

The Pakistanis allegedly grabbed the victim, 15, removed his turban, and cut his hair. The Sikh faith requires followers not to cut hair.

Umair Ahmed, 17, and another unnamed Pakistani boy of 15 were arrested by the NYPD and face charges of unlawful imprisonment, coercion, menacing and aggravated harassment. The name of the victim was not released.

Another student who provided the scissors but didn't take part in the attack at Newton HS was also arrested.

One report attributed to police chief Raymond Kelly said the Sikh boy had tried to apologize for the altercation but Umair would only settle for a cutting his hair.

A Department of Education spokeswoman told the New York Sun that the incident was ''horrifying'' and said the school will offer counselling to the victim.

The Sikh rights group United Sikhs, which is active in monitoring hate crime against Sikhs, did not return calls seeking comment.

According to the rights group Sikh Coalition, the police said the Sikh student was "cowering in the corner" as his hair was forcibly cut. The boy's hair, which used to be below his waist, is now at shoulder level. The boy's mother and the boy are both very distressed, the Coalition said in a statement.

However, the Coalition commended the Hate Crimes Taskforce of the New York City Police Department for its prompt investigation of this matter. It is working with its community partners in New York City to determine an appropriate response to this horrible incident, the Coalition said. It will also independently review why Queens County prosecutors declined to prosecute two other students who were arrested as a result of the incident, the statement said.

New York City has a large sub-continental population (in the region of 250,000), including many Sikhs. Indians and Pakistanis typically share a cordial and even warm relationship, particularly those who speak a common Punjabi language, and there has rarely been any tension between the two communities.

However, the incident also serves to underscore the increasingly negative and extremist image of Pakistani youth in the west, much to the dismay of the liberal and professional Pakistani class.

Earlier this week, a Pakistani sophomore student at the University of Texas in Dallas was convicted of a weapons charge after prosecutors said he took part in military training for jihad.

There have been several such cases in the US where young Pakistanis have been prosecuted for jihadist activity, even as the government of Pakistan has exerted itself to send students abroad in an effort to remain globally engaged and competitive.

Why can't we have a world where we can live peacefully without all this dramas... We as human should learn how to tolerate and respect each other beliefs and religion. Only then we wont see all this kind of problems arising..

I Want to Save Sikhi

Something that I read from Tapoban Forum which I would like to share. A really thought provoking post.....

I want to save Sikhi;
Well, not really. But I've seen this attitude lately. It's not a bad thing. We need to really do something to help Sikhi out. But, this is easier said than done.

I remember when I used to be involved in camps, the organizers used to have meetings and privately discuss how many amritdharis we were going to "create" with this camp. What lectures we could give to inspire people to take amrit, etc. Ironically, at one meeting like this, me and another organizer were talking and he jokingly asks me "So, what time'd you get up today?" I replied "Seven...hehehe" he replied, "High Five! I got up at Eight! hehehe"

Here we were, two people thinking we were going to inspire people to become amritdhari, and we both realised that we were jokers who didn't even get up for amrit vela ourselves.

This reminds me of a story I read about a Sikh politician who came to visit Bhai Sahib Randheer Singh. The Politician told Bhai Sahib about all his schemes and how the Panth would be helped and he had come to ask for Bhai Sahib's support and backing. Bhai Sahib silently listened to the politician and then once he was finished, asked "That's all fine, but have you done your nitnem today?" The politician was a bit embarassed and replied "no, I've been quite busy today, so not yet" Bhai Sahib then said "How can we have such big ambitions for Panthic Seva if we dont' even do our nitnem?"

The issue is that we need to have "jeevan" of our own before we can be of any real service to the Panth. We need to be living Sikhi before we can hope to inspire anyone. We can never "create" amritdharis, only Guru Sahb can, and Guru Sahib does kirpa on his Khalsa. If someone is being told how great Sikhi is but the preacher doesn't seem to have any of the qualities he's speaking so highly of, I'm not so sure his parchar will be successful.

On the other hand, if there is a Khalsa who lives rehit, does naam and bani, I know from personally seeing this, that just by entering a room, people will take notice and want to learn from such a person. People approach this Khalsa and ask question and want to know how s/he became this way. Without a word, such a person can do more parchaar than 101 other preachers who aren't like this. And that person's words will certainly have an effect.

So please don't take me the wrong way. I know a lot of us want to change the Panth and do parchar, but my point is that unless we live Sikhi ourselves then we can't hope to inspire or change anyone else.

Well firstly sorry for not blogging for such a long time. I was really busy at work as Microsoft released the Security patches on the 2nd week of May and as I am in the Patch Mgmt team, I was fully involve of patching all the servers in my Company via Msoft SMS. Had so much of problems at work this time around that I even missed meeting up an old friend who was down in KL and of course missing Malacca Barsi as well.

Basically we had this problems:
1) We had HUGE backlog in DDR on one of our central servers. I had to stop all backup services to allow the backlog to be cleared and of course keeping a constant watch on all the corrupt ddr that was creating the backlog. The backlogs were not clearing off resulting that I had to move all the Backlogs to another temp new folder to allow new DDRs to be processed.

2) After one of our primary servers for sms were rebooted, there was error on the transaction replication with the error: "The agent is suspect. No response within last 10 minutes." I tried increasing the polling interval to increase to remove the error msg but it did not work. Tried connecting to our NLB but it kept showing that I am not authorised. Even the engineer on pager holder duty was not able to sort this out. At last found out that the permission for SMS admins were removed. Added that and tadaaa it worked like charm

3) Well on Monday we found out we were not getting any report back to indicate that if our servers were successfully patched or not. So we had to generate the report from all of our primary sites; which resulted that one of our primary were not even showing any reports. After some troubleshooting we found that the primary site had 50gb of data in Dataldr. And most of the data that was being process were of March and April. (well clearly the engineer who was suppose to keep an eye on the infrastructure of this server was not doing a good job). So another horrid day of moving data out (eventually I just deleted the data for March and April) and in the mean time was transferring data for the month of MAY from dataldr SMS\inboxes\dataldr.box\process folder and we actually found the root cause of the problem; another engineer created a script and advertisement for clients to report back full hardware inventory to SMS everyday in the month of April!!!

4) And of course another Primary server NLB was down for 4 hours. (this is still being checked as to why etime the Primary servers for SMS are rebooted there will be NLB down on those servers).

5) Central server is having around 50gb of data in dataldr that is being processed. So all hardware and software inventory were stopped in all the primary to allow this data to be processed over the weekend.

This was just the some of the problems we faced this time arnd. There were of course other problems that were faced and of course loads of other nitty gritty work that we had to do & of course my daily operation work that I have to do.

Well it is fun at times when you can figure out what is going on but when you cant thats when things get really frustrating. Well the % of successful patching via SMS increased this time around (thank GOD!). The remaining of servers which failed to be patched were patched manually. We have around 2300 servers :)

Basically thats what happened for the past 2 weeks.. Next week I am gonna go and hunt a new digital camera for myself b4 my team trip to tioman. It will be either a Sony or Canon.. still have not made my mind up. Okay ta!

Here is a list of raags and their timings. I think the most popular raag that I believe everyone has heard before is Rag Asa. Rag Asa is the rag of hope, and is a morning Rag that gives you hope right after you wake and do Naam Simran.

Man Utd Crushed by AC Milan

I did not want to post a topic on this earlier as I did not watch the match. All I know was a friend of mine message me and informed that Man Utd lost 3-0 to AC Milan. At first I thougth he was joking but when I surfed the net it was all TRUE. Reali SAD!

My colleague at work however showed me some of the match highlights and this prompted me to blog about it. Personally I don't know what Man United's problem was. They were timid, they had no rhythm, they looked like they were afraid of playing in San Siro!!! They did not look anything like the Man Utd that has been playing throughout this season.

Anyway as the Red Devil supporter I just hope they do well now in FA Cup and in EPL. Its time for a quick rebound. Encounter with a Ghost/Spirit.. or whatever it is called!

This incident just happened like a few minutes ago!

Here's what happen:
I was busy tweaking around with my pc to change the the look of my Windows XP machine to look Windows Vista'ish.. Well I got quite a lot done and I got tired. So I thought chal lets go down and have a walk around the swimming pool and the park as it was quite windy.. Well I stay in a Condominium so there's no problem with security :)

So here I was walking about in the park enjoying the night breeze when suddenly I saw a lady.. She was just sitting on one of the benches in the park. It was a quiet night and no one else was there except for me, her and a security guard who was like 10 meters away. So I thougth lets be friendly and say HI.

So me being me, I went and said HI. The lady did not reply. The lights around the park were quite dimmed so I could not see much of her face. Again I thought maybe she did not hear me, I said Hi louder and said "quite a nice windy night." No response! I was kinda irritated thinking here I was being nice and this lady can't even reply and say hi.

The security guard fella who was nearby looked at me and asked if everything is okay. So I just said Bye to the lady and walked to the security guard and told him that everything is okay and its just that I was trying to be friendly with the lady. And he looked puzzle and asked me "which lady". I was like.. come on.. there was a lady who was sitting on the bench like 10 meters away and I was trying to just start some conversation with her. I turned to show him but there was no one on the bench. So at that time I figured she might have left.

The facial expression of the security guard fella changed. He looked really scared! He said there was no one there and the reason he asked if everything was okay was because he saw me talking to myself. Whooo.. that really made the hair on the back of my neck stand. I asked him few times if he is sure and he was pretty determined.

So Quickly I walked away and took the lift and went up to my place. Did "rakhiya de shabad" all the way till I reach my place. Locked the door and came straight to the PC and put on some kirtan (hyms).

EKTA-Unity!

The reason for the the topic above is cause it is truly disheartening to see the youth of today disliking each other. We often get to hear oh so and so is a Niketan Singh or so in so is a Sabha Singh so im not going to associate with them for whatever reason. How many time have we label each other and start making assumptions about one another based on that label? I was just label today by "someone" who hardly even knows ME!!! He approached and started asking me if I am affliated to A Jatha/B Jatha. It is just so annoying. Why do people tend to do that I wonder!

We have a so many things more in common than the differences we have. Yet we tend to focus on the trivial issues and blow them out of proportion and go to the extent of not even talking to other fellow Sikh because of small differences in rehit beliefs.

The enemies of the Sikh Panth love seeing this. There are the ones who will exploit these small differences to divide us with the same old game of divide and conquer. We as the new generation should not fall into this same trap and should keep in mind that

"united we stand...divided we fall"

Three times a day, we as Sikhs do ardaas for the Ekta (unity) of the Khalsa Panth. What is Ekta? How can it be achieved? What are the different types of Ekta?

It is Kaljug, the world is divided. There is only one way to achieve Ekta, which is through Naam. Through the one commoness of Naam we all have one aim in life, which is to ultimately merge with Waheguru. We should look at ourselves as Ambassadors of Sikhi, and spread the message of Guru Nanak, which is about peace, unity and meditation. Strenghten yourselves by keeping one Rehat of Sri Dashmesh Pita Jee and becoming ready for any situation ahead.

Ekta on a bigger scale, is Ekta with Waheguru (God). This is the ultimate type of Ekta, when our soul enjoys Naam Ras in the warm embrace of God, however, in order to achieve this Ekta it is a must that we achieve unity between the Panth and the World. It is just a matter of time that Unity comes in the Panth, and a matter of time that unity comes throughout the whole world. However, on must note that it will only come when we are all Naam Abhiyaasees and spread genuine love amongst other human beings, become the Charan Dhoor of everyone. No one is higher and no one is lower. Strive to do your best in whatever you do and always do Ardaas and stay humble.

There is no use squabbling over worldly matters, which is what we see in Gurdwaras every week. We must start doing Vichaar of Gurbani and Abhiyaas of Naam in Gurdwaras and get the Youth involved. Getting the Youth involved means a safer structure for Sikhi. Once their is Ekta in the Panth what makes us think we can stop there? Naam merges all types of people together. When a Gursikhs starts to Jap Naam, others are automatically drawn to him - so much is the power of Naam inside him and in this way love scent spreads from one to another.

We need a loving society, in which everyone lives together peacefully, sharing and caring for one and other.

When you start to Jap Naam you will start seeing the light of God contained in every single human body, which gives you the strength to smile. Whenever you are about to unwrath your anger, just smile and see God in that person, Maharaaj is just testing you. Anger is notoriously dubious, with anger we say a hundred foul words and break relationships, in the Rang of anger we loose our sense of calmness and loose other peoples respect. Think about it, there is no Jathebandee except the Khalsa. There is no Caste, Creed or Colour. Just Naam. Take examples from Praatan Gursikhs, such as Bhai Ghaniyaa Jee, who did not see no friend or fiend. He was a Naam Raseeyaa Gursikh who used to eat the left overs from Guru Kaa Langar which also shows his humility.

Recognise the Human Race as One.

The articles were wrote by Gurmukh Singh (Raub, Pahang-Malaysia). The articles in the web-site were first printed in October 1995 in book form titled SIKHISM. I have never read the book so :) this is new to me.

There are 34 chapters on Sikhi to be read. I have not got the chance to read much yet but I have bookmarked the site..

Phew its 2.30am and I finally finished filling up my taxes. Just submitted it via e-filing 2 minutes ago. YAY to me! Declaring TAXES; gosh that sounded alien to me few years ago when I was just a STUDENT. Time surely flies fast. Without realising here I was today cracking my head figuring out the tax form. Spent nearly an hour trying to fill up the tax form. FINALLY its finished! Though LHDN seriously need to upgrade their system. I was trying the WHOLE of FRIDAY and SATURDAY and I just couldnt get through. The page was taking AGES to load.

I will try to update about the kirtan darbar later in the morning as I am dozing away now. Just couldnt resist myself to report my VICTORY of filling up the tax form at LAST!

Hmmm... Filling up taxes, paying my own Bills, paying loans... Sign that I am getting OLD. Well time surely flies very very FAST..

Should we have expectations?

Today I was talking to a friend of mine and towards the end of the conversation she mentioned about not expecting so and so to do what she/he did. I had to end the conversation as I had some work to do. But the ending of the conversation made me think: Should we actually have expectations on people?

I believe we all have set some sort of expectations on people; may it be our love ones, our friends, siblings, family, and etc etc etc. How often have we said this: Oh, I did not EXPECT this from her/him? Why do we have to expect anything from people? Why do we tend to EXPECT people to be the way we "think" they are? At the end of day when they do the opposite from what we expect, we get all angry, frustrated, sad."Why can't we just leave people as what they are and not expect people to be as what we want them to be?"

I have read this a nice quote from someone's blog/website a while ago. Memory is not serving me well so I cannot give credit to the owner of the quote.

The quote went on like this: Love all, trust a few... but expectations keep from none.

Everything happens for a reason which we mere mortal might not understand. To avoid any kind of dissapointment when things/people does not turn out to our expectations, always try to recognize god's doing in all that happen. The least we expect, the least we will get dissapointed on things/people...

Just wanna say I am so so sooooooooo Happy that Man Utd won the match!!! I could not watch the game last night but arnd 6am I got a sms indicating we won 3-2... YES!!! All we need to do now in the away game is to ensure that we don't loose and we are in to the FINALS!!! Wohoooo.... Man Utd form has been awesome this season and despite the injuries to the players; we still manage to pull it through.

Monday Blues

Its Monday. And I am back to the same routine for the week : home - WORK - home. I guess I am not the only one that grumbles and groans about Mondays and is unwilling to let go of the lovely and lazy Sunday. I bet loads and loads of people groans about it to. :)

Surprisingly today I got to work pretty early. Usually I will be dragging myself out of my house on Mondays. I had one of my colleague who comes in pretty early in the morning (after he got married :P) asking me what was the occasion for me to come in so early today. Anyway it did not make any difference as I still came back home late from work as usual.

Mondays are the busiest days for me at work with endless of pending emails, pending work that is accumulated during the weekend and never ending meetings. When the day ends at work I will be just so relief.

Anyway I have a few people who requested me to put up more information on Microsoft SMS 2003. Im sorry guys, I cant put up the documents we use at work cause all the documents are marked as Confidential or Restricted; however I have a few links here which has really help me to expediate my understanding which can be use by you all to understand the basics of Microsoft SMS 2003.

I just got confirmation that Bhai Niranjan Singh Ji (Jwadi Kalaan Wale) will be in Malaysia tomorrow (24 April 2007).

Bhai Sahib's first program will be tomorrow in Gurdwara Sahib Titiwangsa, following on Wednesday in Gurdwara Sahib Petaling Jaya (PJ) and on Thursday it will be in Tatt Khalsa Gurd.

Bittu will be accompanying Bhai Sahib.

Hopefully there will be no last minute changes.

My thoughts

I posted earlier; but I am not to sure where my post went missing. Wrote quite a bit in the earlier post. Gosh now I have to re-type all over again.

My accomplishment for the day is that I have changed the template for my Blog. Had to meddle around with the HTML codes but I have got the desired layout. At last!

I had not much to do today. Went to gurdwara in the morning and later went to meet an uncle. Had quite a long discussion about life and of course religion. It always amazes me how I never realises how time flies whenever I sit and talk to uncleji. I met him yesterday and he made a very interesting statement; according to him its harder to get people to speak abt God and be more religious as 75% of people are just attached to worldly things and only 25% are left. Its as good as having a four-legged table only standing on ONE leg (now think how unstable that can be)!!

All I can say is that we will have to constantly upgrade our "firewall" to ensure that no one succeeds in hacking into our system. And the only way we can keep upgrading our "firewall" is by chanting the name of GOD. But one have to remember that the harder it gets to hack a system normally the more "hackers" will try to hack and destroy the system. I think this happens in our daily life too. The more we try to attach ourself to GOD, the more we will get all sort of distractions trying to lure us away from GOD. But Naam is the only cure for all kinda problems. As guruji said below:

Distractions - Nice article

This is something I saw today in Sikhsangat forum. A nice and inspiring article to remind us to remember to keep WAHEGURU (god) as our Focus all the time. We as human are easily distracted by all the worldly things and often we forget the MAIN purpose why we were sent to this world.

There was once a man who was a devoted disciple of a holy man. He served this holy man well, after serving the holy man he would go for long walks in the beautiful countryside and he would get so much pleasure from doing so.

One day after serving his master, he decided to go for a walk using a different route. While on this new route he came across a town. He thought to himself "this looks like an interesting place," he proceeded to walk through the town. As he went through this town he saw things that he had never seen before.

He saw luxurious clothing and furniture, he smelt foods that he had never smelt before, he saw priceless jewelry that shone like the stars. He also saw beautiful women that were dressed in fine clothing, they were very friendly towards him. He was amazed by what he saw and he also liked what he saw. Eventually, he passed the town and proceeded to find his master, all the while he was thinking about what he had seen. A strange feeling of guilt came over him.

Upon reaching his masters house, he ran up to him and told him what he had seen, he said that he was feeling guilty that he found these things pleasurable, but at the same time he couldn''t stop thinking about them. He asked his master what he should do.

The master said "I want you to go through this town again, but this time I want you to take this candle. I want you to walk through this town with this candle without spilling one drop of wax onto the floor. If you spill one drop, my servant here (he pointed to a big man holding a long sharp, sword) will chop your head off!! Now go!"

He obeyed his master and set off. He got to the town and proceeded to walk through holding the candle, the big man was right behind him watching his every move. The servant walked through the whole of the town careful not to spill a drop. He successfully completed his mission, he did not spill a drop. He went back to his master and told him the news.

The master said, "WELL?" The servant replied "Master, I did not spill a drop!"The master said, "As you walked through the town, did you see what you saw before?"The servant replied "No master, I was too worried about my life, if my sight wondered from the candle I would have spilt a drop and he would have chopped my head off!!"The master smiled and said to his disciple..."

This is how you should live your life my friend, Death is following you around wherever you go, it is easy to forget and get distracted, as soon as you forget- you could be dead!! That candle is your focus, if you focus in life then death cannot harm you. Realise this my child and you will have the key to immortality."

The servant realised the lesson he had just learnt and broke down in tears, ever grateful to his master for showing him the way out of distraction...point is focus ur mind on Waheguru.

Its Friday

Its such a relief that is Friday today. Last day of work for the week and I will have 2 days of rest from work though I still will have tonnes of documentation that need to be done. Working life is really different compared to being a student. Uni life was such a joy. Even high school days were really fun with my group of friends who, thank god are still keeping in touch till today. We use to do loads of things together.

Back to working life.. Ive got 2 process documents and one troubleshooting guide that I am suppose to be working on at the moment. But gosh here I am blogging away. Just to give a summary; I am working in a MNC company in Cyberjaya. My primary work is to use Microsoft SMS for patch deployment to all the global servers in my company; handling the maintanence and monitoring of the infrastructure for Msoft SMS in the company and my daily operations work is to distribute software via GPO. We are also migrating to SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager 2007) by end of this year. It might sound "alien" to those who are not in the IT industry :) The job is really tedious and stressful at times. Slight mistake and BOOM it will cause a massive impact to the company globally. But I am really happy to be in this team as everyday I am learning something new. Everyday comes with a new challenge and everyday when you reach work, you will be wondering what will happen today. However since I have start working I seldom have much time left for most of other things. At the end of the day, I just would like to have some quiet and quality time for my ownself. Sign that I might be getting old eh ;)

For anyone who's around Kuala Lumpur area; there is a kirtan darbar that will be held next week Saturday in loving memory of Sant Baba Sohan Singh Ji. Program details as follows:

Khalsaji will be doing kirtan. There will be also loads of other local and international raagi jatha that will also be doing kirtan on that day. I will update more on the kirtanis list once I get hold of the final list. Oh yes sewa starts at 10am in the morning. So be sure to come.

American Idol - Sanjaya Malakar is Finally Out

All I can say is FINALLY he's OUT. Yes the camera loves him, yes he has weird hairdo's and yes he has a nice smile, but comparing him to the other contestants; he can't sing. I was predicting he might even reach the finals looking at the amount of fans he has. But frankly speaking all this season American Idol was mainly about "Sanjaya, Sanjaya, Sanjaya" and now with him out; it's going to be kind of boring without him. :)

Well I just heard from a friend that Bhai Sahib will not be able to come to Malaysia; as he is having some problems getting visa from Bangkok. I was really looking forward for Bhai Sahib's program in Malaysia.

My First Post

Here am I, starting off with my very first blog. I have been an avid reader of loads of blogs and had always wanted to create a blog for myself. So anyway, here I am, and frankly I am lost of what to write about.

Anyway in short, this will be my space to share with you all about my simple life and most importantly my understanding about Sikhism (god willing). I will also try to add in of any latest happenings and news.

Hopefully I will be able to update it as frequent as possible.
